How much does it cost to adopt a dog?

$175. The adoption fee includes:

Spay/neuter
Age appropriate vaccines
De-worming
Heartworm testing (dogs over 6 months of age):
Preventive healthcare
Skin treatments (if needed)

How much does it cost to adopt a cat?

$100. The adoption fee includes:

Spay/neuter
Age appropriate vaccines
De-worming
FIV/FeLV testing

What is the adoption process?

At the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter, we recognize that pets, like people, are individuals. We strive to make sure each owner/pet match enjoy a long and rewarding relationship. During the application process, we will determine if the pet is a good match for you, your home and your lifestyle. If you have children and/or other pets, we’ll make sure the pet you've chosen is compatible with the entire family.

Fill out an adoption application either online or at the shelter.
We will process your application within 2 business days (Tues-Sat). This includes checking personal and vet references among other things.
If approved, we will call you for a phone interview to get more information about what kind of pet you are looking for and schedule a meet and greet.
Once the meet and greet is complete, if you have other dogs, another appointment will be made for your to bring your dog(s) to meet your potential new pet to ensure all that dogs are a good match for each other.
Once the we determine the pet is a good fit for you, your home, your lifestyle, your children and other pets, the adoption paperwork is finalized and any outstanding fees are paid.

During the approval process, we will make sure that you have:

An appropriate home for a pet. Renters will be required to provide a lease agreement stating that animals are allowed on the property.
Living conditions that match the pet's requirements.
A lifestyle that allows you to provide adequate attention, care and exercise for your pet.
Financial resources to feed and care for your pet.
A realistic understanding of the demands of pet ownership.

Why Adopt?

There are thousands of homeless animals in our community. They deserve to have homes, know love, comfort and family. Adopting can be very rewarding because it saves a helpless animal that found itself at the shelter through no fault of it's own. A shelter pet can bring you joy, happiness, and a sense of fulfillment.
